Course Title: Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN)
Course Description
This course provides an in-depth exploration of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), focusing on its underlying mechanisms, diagnostic strategies, and evidence-based treatment options. Participants will learn to identify different neuropathy types, tailor interventions, and integrate interdisciplinary care for optimal patient outcomes.
In addition to understanding pathophysiology and diagnosis, learners will gain practical insights into managing sensory, motor, and autonomic neuropathies. The course covers first-line oral and topical therapies and emphasizes safety strategies for motor neuropathy and referral protocols for autonomic involvement. Alternative and complementary treatments, lifestyle interventions, and the critical evaluation of opioid use are also discussed, ensuring participants leave with a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to improving quality of life for those living with DPN.
